He’s going to be a Blue Jays legend?

After a huge comeback win, I saw the Dodgers celebrate their back-to-back World Series titles. At the same time, I saw Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s reaction. He was emotional after game 7. However, watching his performance this postseason, there’s no doubt that he has contributed a lot to the Blue Jays.

While reviewing Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s performance, I began to think about his career with the Blue Jays. He made it into the big leagues in 2019 and has spent 7 seasons with the Blue Jays. In April 2025, he and the Blue Jays agreed to a 14-year contract extension. Thus, he shall stay with the Blue Jays thru 2039. Well, we won’t know what will happen in 2039. Nonetheless, looking at Vladimir Guerrero Jr.’s performance so far in his career, perhaps, we might witness something amazing.

In addition, let’s look at home run leaders. Carlos Delgado smashed 336 home runs as a Blue Jay and he’s the only player who had at least 300 home runs in the Blue Jays uniform. Moreover, Jose Bautista was a home run hitter, no doubt. He blasted 288 home runs as a Blue Jay. In particular, he crushed 54 home runs in 2010. At the same time, 4 other players each had 200+ home runs in the Blue Jays uniform. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. has blasted 183 home runs so far in his career.

Jose Bautista had 766 RBI, ranking 3rd in franchise history. Edwin Encarnacion, Lloyd Moseby and Tony Fernandez each collected 600+ RBI for the Blue Jays. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. now has collected 591 RBI so far in his career.

When we look at the Blue Jays history, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. is now in the top 10 in several hitting categories. Let’s not go too far and see what he might reach in the 2026 season. In 2025, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. had 172 hits, 23 home runs and 84 RBI. If he can replicate his performance, in the next season, he will reach 1200 hits, 200 home runs and 600 RBI. He will surpass some players in several hitting categories in franchise history. Additionally, in 2030, it will be his 12th season with the Blue Jays, which means the same as several key Blue Jays players such as Tony Fernandez, Vernon Wells and Carlos Delgado. And it will be very interesting to see if he already becomes leaders in several hitting categories in the Blue Jays history.
