World Series preview


In less than 24 hours, the first pitch of the 2024 World Series will be thrown. The 2024 World Series will certainly draw a lot of attention around the world. The Dodgers will play against the Yankees in the Fall Classic. It will be the 12th time that these 2 great teams meet in the World Series.

 

This is going to be an interesting World Series. Before the game begins, let’s take a look at these two teams’ performance in the postseason so far.

In addition, let’s look at starting pitchers. In 11 games, the Dodgers starters have an ERA over 6 and own a 1.38 WHIP. Opponents hit .247 against the Dodgers starters. They gave up 27 runs (all earned) and struck out 27 batters. Yoshinobu Yamamoto and Jack Flaherty each made 3 starts so far in the postseason. Nonetheless, they each now have an ERA over 5.

 

At the same time, the Yankees starters have a 3.89 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP in 9 games. They gave up 20 runs and struck out 43 batters in 44 innings. Opponents hit .267 against them. Finally, let’s look at the bullpen. The Dodgers bullpen already tossed 57 innings this postseason, posting a 3.16 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. Opponents hit .237 against the Dodgers relievers. In the Dodgers bullpen, Anthony Banda and Blake Treinen each made 6 relief appearances and have an ERA below 2. However, looking at the starting pitchers, the Dodgers starters have an ERA over 6, which doesn’t look good. Nonetheless, opponents actually have a batting average over .260 against the Yankees starters. Nevertheless, these 2 teams each have a solid bullpen so far this postseason. In the 2024 World Series, there are certainly a lot of things worth watching. Let’s see if those MVP award winners and top pitchers will shine in this series. Perhaps, we will see a hero that we wouldn’t expect before?
