Padres’ good trade partners?

Last December, there were some rumors that the Padres were open to trading one or two everyday players. I read the news and some reporters indicated that the Dodgers might be interested in one player. Normally, making trades with division rivals is not common. However, it could happen.

Open a blaster box of 2020 Topps Archives, by accident

In early December, I saw someone post a photo in a chat group, which was created by a sports card shop manager. She showed that there were several types of sports cards available. Anyone can ask her questions related to those products. I saw the photo and found a product that drew my attention.

300 K?

A few weeks ago, I was watching some baseball highlights and saw a legendary pitcher punch out several batters in a game. In his career, there were several times that he threw 300+ strikeouts in a single season. And, I began to wonder whether there are some batters who used to be struck out 300+ times in a single season.

It’s the 23rd day of the year and we are getting close to seeing the first pitch of the 2023 season. In the 2023 season, there might be some exciting moments to see several players reach major career milestones.

Before Christmas, the Boston Red Sox and Justin Turner agreed to a 2-year deal. After spending 9 years with the Dodgers, Justin Turner is not returning to Los Angeles.

Southpaw, one more

The Yankees and the 2022 AL MVP Aaron Judge agreed to a 9-year deal. The star is not going anywhere and will stay in New York for a long time. Nonetheless, the Yankees didn’t stop and signed Carlos Rodon on a 6-year contract. Rodon had a great 2022 season with the Giants. However, will he replicate his great performance in New York?

J.D. & Mookie

In mid-December, the Dodgers and J.D. Martinez agreed to a 1-year deal. J.D. Martinez already turned 35, however, he still shows that he’s one of the best hitters in the majors. In 2022, he slashed .274/.341/.448 with 16 home runs and 62 RBI. Nonetheless, his OPS dropped from .867 to .789. As he will turn 36 in August, do the Dodgers actually make a great decision on signing him?

From the 2020 draft

Last month, I was listening to a podcast show, which is hosted by a MLB player. During the show, he interviewed a player who had a great 2022 season. In particular, that player who played well in 2022 indicated that he was drafted in 2020. The 2020 MLB draft is not a normal draft. There were only 5 rounds in the draft.

GIDP

In mid-December, I listened to a podcast show. In the show, a guest indicated that he didn’t like some trades that a team made. In particular, the guest demonstrated that a player just kept hitting into double plays. I can hear the voice of that guest loudly. After listening to the show, I was wondering whether this player actually grounded into double play most times in the 2022 season.

2022 Topps Stadium Club

Last year, I went to several card shops and asked if there were any hobby packs of the 2021 Topps Stadium Club. However, I came late and I didn’t get any hobby packs of 2021 Topps Stadium Club. This year, once the 2022 Topps Stadium Club was released, I quickly went to a card shop and bought some hobby packs of the 2022 Topps Stadium Club.

Taillon back to the NL Central

The Cubs front office has been quite busy during the off-season. A key thing for the Cubs is to improve the rotation and Jameson Taillon agreed to a 4-year deal with the Cubs. Taillon began his career with the Pirates and now, he’s back to the NL Central.

Cody to Chicago

In mid-November, the Dodgers decided to non-tender Cody Bellinger, who won the 2019 NL MVP award. Just a few weeks later, the Cubs and Cody Bellinger agreed to a 1-year deal. In 2022, Cody Bellinger was hitting .210/.265/.389 with 19 home runs and 68 RBI. Bellinger struggled in 2022 and I was just wondering whether he could have a successful season in Chicago.
