Open a blaster box of 2020 Topps Archives, by accident

In early December, I saw someone post a photo in a chat group, which was created by a sports card shop manager. She showed that there were several types of sports cards available. Anyone can ask her questions related to those products. I saw the photo and found a product that drew my attention.

I saw a blaster box of Topps Archives and asked that manager about the price. She indicated that she could offer me a discount, and I said that I would go to the shop in the end of December to get it.

When I arrived at the card shop, I realized that I made a huge mistake. I was thinking about 2022 Topps Archives. However, the product shown in the group was actually the 2020 Topps Archives. Unfortunately, I didn’t pay enough attention and a blaster box of 2020 Topps Archives was not what I wanted.

Nonetheless, I already promised to buy the product. So, I still opened a blaster box of 2020 Topps Archives.

In total, there are 57 cards in a blaster box. Let’s see what I got.

Base cards: Charlie Blackmon, Shohei Ohtani, Rickey Henderson, Francisco Lindor, Robin Yount, Goose Gossage, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Tim Anderson, Bryan Reynolds, J.T. Realmuto, Trevor Bauer, Ralph Kiner, Paul DeJong, Luis Aparicio, Charlie Morton, Hunter Dozier, Jacob deGrom, Eloy Jimenez, DJ LeMahieu, Eric Hosmer, Jon Lester, Ketel Marte, David Ortiz, Justin Turner, Sammy Sosa, Duke Snider, Matthew Boyd, Walker Buehler, Victor Robles, Marco Gonzales, Austin Meadows, Frank Thomas, John Means, Andrelton Simmons, Michael Chavis, Whitey Ford, Willson Contreras, Ichiro, Alex Rodriguez, Juan Marichal, Andruw Jones, Pedro Martinez, Kris Bryant

Rookie cards (8): Brock Burke, Isan Diaz, A.J. Puk, Abraham Toro, Zack Collins, Trent Grisham, Shun Yamaguchi, Andres Munoz

Topps Nickname Poster Card: Hank Aaron

1976 Topps Traded: Pedro Martinez

1955 Bowman Archives: Dustin May (RC)

1960 All-Star Rookies: Jorge Alfaro

1960 Combo: Baby Blue Jays (Bo Bichette & Vladimir Guerrero Jr.)

1964 Topps Giant Card: Juan Soto

Well, the result is certainly not what I want. I didn’t find any numbered cards, variation cards or autograph cards in this blaster box. But, it’s a good lesson. For me, I will surely check carefully before making a decision.

Nevertheless, it wasn’t a bad day. I haven’t been to that card shop for more than 1 year and I would like to go to check if there are some changes. There are not so many changes in the card shop. However, the card shop ownership was changed as the manager indicated one of the owners decided to part ways. I don’t want to go deep about that situation, but at least the card shop is still there and I can come to get some cards. For me, I will not buy a blaster box of 2020 Topps Archives again. Nonetheless, I will certainly go to that card shop again. This time, I didn’t get any hits. Hopefully, things will be different next time. Additionally, next time, I will make sure that the product is exactly what I want before ordering.
