Not just Corey’s brother

Back in 2017, Kyle Seager wore a jersey with “Corey’s Brother” across the back for Players Weekend. At the end of 2021, Kyle Seager announced his retirement after 11 seasons in the majors. It was a surprise to see Kyle Seager announce his retirement since he just crushed a career-high 35 home runs in 2021.

Kyle Seager made his MLB debut on July 7, 2011. He spent 11 years in the majors, all with the Mariners. In his career, he hit .251/.321/.442 with 242 home runs, 807 RBI and 55 stolen bases. Those numbers don’t look super spectacular, but in the Mariners franchise, his contribution is hard to ignore.

The Mariners fans will definitely not forget Kyle Seager’s contribution in Seattle. Kyle Seager slashed .212/.285/.438 with a career-high 35 home runs and a career-high 101 RBI in 2021. However, his OPS dropped from .788 to .723. He turned 34 last November and it seems that he can still hit. Perhaps, he can play for a few more seasons. Did he announce his retirement too early?
