A few weeks ago, I saw an interesting post on Twitter. It showed a comparison of two teams. After watching the post, I’m thinking about comparing something interesting.
It’s been almost 3 years since this decade began. So, I’m just wondering whether there is something similar between the first 3 years of the last decade and the first 3 years of this decade.
The Dodgers won the 2020 World Series championship. By far in this decade, the Dodgers lead the majors with 260 wins. Meanwhile, the Astros won the 2022 World Series title, from 2020 to 2022, they already won 230 games. Moreover, the Rays won 226 games these 3 years. Additionally, the Yankees and the Braves each won 224 games from 2020 to 2022. Looking back at the first three years of the last decade, the Yankees won 287 games and the Phillies won 280 games. At the same time, the Rangers won the AL pennant in 2010 and 2011. From 2010 to 2012, the Rangers finished each season with at least 90 wins. In the meantime, the Rays got 277 wins and the Braves won 274 games. Furthermore, the Giants won the World Series title in 2010 and 2012. From 2010 to 2012, the Giants won 272 games during the regular season. There are a lot of differences between the first three years of the last decade and the first three years of this decade. But, as we can see on the chart, the Braves, the Rays and the Yankees actually had a good start last decade. And this decade, they each have a good start as well. Additionally, the Giants were 6th in most wins among 30 MLB from 2010 and 2012. In the first three years of this decade, they are now 6th in most wins among 30 MLB teams again. However, the major difference is that they haven’t had any World Series appearances this decade.
Finally, from 2010 to 2012, the Giants won the World Series title twice. Moreover, the Rangers won the AL pennant twice. But, unfortunately, the Rangers fell short in the World Series. In this decade, the other team in Texas won the AL pennant twice. The Astros won the AL pennant last season, but in the 2021 World Series, they lost to the Braves. However, this season, the Astros defeated the Phillies in the World Series. There are a lot of changes between this decade and last decade. Nonetheless, looking at the first three years of the last decade, there’s something similar to the first three years of this decade. For example, the Braves, the Rays and the Yankees did accumulate a lot of wins in the first three years in each of these two decades. Nevertheless, in the first three years of the previous decade, the Giants won the World Series Champions twice. But, in this decade, we can see the World Series matchups are totally different. Well, from 2010 to 2019, the Giants won the World Series title three times and the Red Sox became the World Series winner twice. We see three different World Series winners by far this decade. Can we see a team win the World Series title twice or even more this decade?
