This season, Neuse currently hits .329/.393/.461 with 2 home runs and 14 RBI in 22 games with the Oakland Athletics. He’s probably the most productive hitter in the A’s lineup. When his teammates are in scoring position, he posts a batting average over .500. Additionally, Ty France has a great start this season, by far, he’s hitting .347/.417/.537 with 5 home runs and 21 RBI. With runners in scoring position, he’s hitting even better with a batting average of .524. Jose Iglesias joined the Rockies in March and his batting average is .467 with runners in scoring position thus far. Moreover, Jose Ramirez’s batting average is .450 with runners in scoring position, however, when the bases are empty, his batting average is just .244. Furthermore, Ian Happ posts a batting average over .300 so far this season and, with runners in scoring position, his batting average is over .400.

Meanwhile, Xander Bogaerts and Paul Goldschmidt each own a batting average of .429 when runners are in scoring position. At the same time, 3 other players each post a batting average of .400 or higher when runners are in scoring position.

Now, let’s see who has collected more RBI with runners in scoring position.

Jose Ramirez currently leads the majors with 28 RBI and among those 28 RBI, he collects 20 RBI with runners in scoring position. Ramirez already crushed 3 home runs with runners in scoring position so far. Additionally, Ty France has 16 RBI when his teammates are in scoring position. By far, Ty France has collected 21 RBI, tying 3rd most in the MLB. In the meantime, Pete Alonso and Starling Marte each have 16 RBI with runners in scoring position. These two Mets hitters do help the team score more runs. Last year, the Mets only collected 391 RBI when runners were in scoring position, which were the fewest among 30 MLB teams. This season, they already collected 85 RBI with runners in scoring position, second most among 30 MLB teams.

Furthermore, Trea Turner is now the Dodgers RBI leader. He has 18 RBI and among those 18 RBI, 16 RBI are collected when runners are in scoring position. At the same time, Josh Bell has 15 RBI with runners in scoring position. And, four players each have 14 RBI with runners in scoring position. Brandon Marsh collects 14 RBI with runners in scoring position. He has 15 RBI in 20 games this season and last season, he collected 19 RBI in 70 games. In the meantime, Anthony Rizzo has 14 RBI with runners in scoring position as well. Rizzo has a batting average of .350 when his teammates are in scoring position. Yadiel Hernandez and Tyler O’Neill are the other two players who have 14 RBI with runners in scoring position.

A team has to score more runs than its opponent to win a baseball game. So, it’s always important to send those runners on base home as much as possible. With runners in scoring position, it’s possible to score a run if a batter hits a single. In the first month of the 2022 season, players such as Jose Ramirez and Ty France have been pretty productive with runners in scoring position. It will be worth watching whether they can maintain this good performance through the season.
