During the postseason, the Phillies relief pitchers owned a 2.62 ERA and a 1.09 WHIP. In the 2022 playoffs, Bryan Abreu had done an amazing job. He made 10 relief appearances without allowing a run. He gave up just 4 hits and 4 walks over 11.1 innings. Moreover, he punched out 19 batters. The 2022 season is surely a great season for Abreu. He made 55 relief appearances during the regular season, posting a 1.94 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP over 60.1 innings. Last year, Abreu owned a 5.75 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP in 36 innings. You can see the huge difference.

In the meantime, Ryan Pressly is the Astros’ closer. This postseason, he also made 10 relief appearances. Pressly didn’t allow a run in 11 innings and he punched out 13 batters. Pressly’s WHIP was only 0.64 and opponents batted only .108 against him. Bryan Abreu and Ryan Pressly were very solid this postseason. Their solid performances truly helped the Astros secure victories. However, the Phillies might not find a right way to use Jose Alvarado. This postseason, Alvarado made 12 relief appearances, most among all relievers. Unfortunately, he allowed 5 walks and gave up 3 home runs in 11.1 innings. During the regular season, Alvarado posted a 3.18 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. Nonetheless, his ERA was 5.56 this postseason. In particular, he gave up 4 runs (all earned) in 3.1 innings in the 2022 World Series. Finally, Seranthony Dominguez and Zach Eflin each tossed 10.2 innings for the Phillies in the 2022 playoffs. Dominguez gave up 2 runs (all earned) and Eflin allowed 4 runs (all earned). Moreover, Rafael Montero made 10 relief appearances for the Astros and he gave up 2 runs in 9.1 innings. The Astros bullpen was surely outstanding in the 2022 postseason. They posted a 0.83 ERA, the lowest in postseason history. Among the Astros relievers, Bryan Abreu, Rafael Montero and Ryan Pressly were absolutely doing a great job. In particular, these 3 relievers and Cristian Javier tossed a combined no-hitter in the Game 4 of the 2022 World Series.
