Not so long ago, I watched a baseball game on TV. At the beginning of the game, a team scored 4 runs in the first inning. Scoring 4 runs is surely a great start of the game. After watching the game, I was just thinking about a question. Which teams are scoring more runs in the first inning thus far?
To understand a little bit more, I went to check on the MLB website.
By far this season, the Braves have played 100 games and scored 554 runs. Among those 500+ runs, 101 of them were coming from the first inning. The Braves have been hitting well in the first inning with a batting average of .330. Additionally, in the first inning, the Braves already blasted 30 home runs and have an OPS over 1.000.
Meanwhile, the Dodgers are another NL team, which already scored 500+ runs. They scored 79 runs in the first inning thus far. In the first inning, the Dodgers have a batting average of .282 and their OPS is over .900. They crushed 30 home runs in the first. Furthermore, in the first inning, they drew 54 walks, which is the second most among 30 MLB teams.
In addition, the Astros scored 75 runs in the first inning, and they own an OPS over .800. The Astros won the 2022 World Series title and last year, they had an OPS of .860 in the first inning, which was the best among 30 MLB teams.
