Dominant after the All-Star break?

We just reviewed some hitters who have hit very well after the All-Star break a couple days ago. At the same time, several pitchers have been dominant after the All-Star break and let’s see how excellent they have been.

Firstly, let’s look at those pitchers who have thrown a lot of strikeouts after the All-Star break. Well, it’s not a surprise to see Tarik Skubal on the leaderboard. He’s one of the best pitchers in the majors and he just won the 2024 AL Cy Young award. Skubal struck out 153 batters before the All-Star break and after the All-Star break, Skubal now has 63 strikeouts. At the same time, Dylan Cease now has 61 strikeouts in the second half of this season. But his ERA is over 4.

Another southpaw has pitched consistently this season. Jesus Luzardo threw 100+ strikeouts before the All-Star break. After the Mid-Summer classic, he has thrown 60 strikeouts. Moreover, Bryan Woo threw 100+ strikeouts before the All-Star break as well and after the All-Star break, he already threw 60 strikeouts.

Signing Nick Pivetta has been a good decision for the Padres. Pivetta has pitched well for the Padres. Before the All-Star break, he owned a 1.02 WHIP over 109.1 innings. After the All-Star break, he now has a 0.78 WHIP after making 8 starts. In the meantime, it’s worthwhile to watch Kevin Gausman. Gauman’s WHIP was 1.16 in the first half of the 2025 season. After the Mid-Summer Classic, his WHIP is 0.82 after making 8 starts. Furthermore, Jacob deGrom is back. He tossed 112.1 innings for the Rangers in the first half of this season and he had a 0.91 WHIP. After the All-Star break, his WHIP is below 1 after making 7 starts. At the same time, Luis Severino now posts a 0.96 WHIP after making 5 starts in the second half of this season. Before the All-Star break, he owned a WHIP of 1.41. Skubal’s WHIP is below 1 after the All-Star break as well.

Finally, let’s take a look at those closers. Raisel Iglesias has 12 saves after making 20 relief appearances in the second half of the 2025 season. Agreeing to a deal with Carlos Estevez looks like a good decision. He had 25 saves before the All-Star break and after the Mid-Summer classic, he now has 11 saves. Moreover, Aroldis Chapman is still good. Before the All-Star break, he collected 17 saves in 41 relief appearances. After the All-Star break, he now has 11 saves over 18 relief appearances. Additionally, Andres Munoz picked up 21 saves in the first half of this season. After the All-Star break, he has 11 saves after making 18 relief appearances.

Looking at the pitchers who have pitched well in the second half of the 2025 season, well, seeing Tarik Skubal on the list is not a surprise. He’s been excellent. In the meantime, we see several pitchers from the Mariners have pitched well. Bryan Woo and Andres Munoz, their performance will somehow determine if the Mariners will clinch a spot in the postseason. Meanwhile, Nick Pivetta and Kevin Gausman each have pitched well thus far in the second half and it will be interesting to see if they will help their teams clinch a spot in the postseason.
