Pay tribute to these Dodgers II

Just a couple of days ago, we just reviewed several Dodgers pitchers’ contributions in the postseason. Now, let’s look at position players’ dedication to the postseason.

Again, I decided to check on the great Fangraphs website.

Firstly, let’s look at which players have played many games for the Dodgers in the postseason. Kike Hernandez has played 92 games for the Dodgers in the playoffs and he’s leader in games played. Hernandez is the only Dodger who played at least 90 games in the postseason. Moreover, Justin Turner played for the Dodgers from 2014 to 2022. In the postseason, he played 86 games in the Dodgers uniform, hitting .270/.370/.460 with 13 home runs and 42 RBI. Also, Chris Taylor played for the Dodgers from 2016 to 2025. He played 80 games for the Dodgers in the playoffs with 9 home runs. At the same time, Max Muncy, Will Smith and Mookie Betts each have played at least 80 games for the Dodgers in the postseason.

In addition, let’s look at the home runs leaders for the Dodgers in the postseason. Max Muncy has crushed 16 home runs for the Dodgers since 2018. He didn’t play in the 2021 postseason due to an injury. Over the last 7 years, there are 5 times that he blasted 3 home runs in a single postseason. Furthermore, Justin Turner and Corey Seager each smashed 13 home runs for the Dodgers in the playoffs. Moreover, Kike Hernandez, Shohei Ohtani and Duke Snider each smashed 11 home runs for the Dodgers in the postseason. Oh, by the way, Shohei Ohtani smashed 8 home runs this postseason.

Thirdly, let’s look at who has collected many RBI. Justin Turner is now leading the Dodgers with 42 RBI in the postseason. Mookie Betts has collected 38 RBI for the Dodgers in the postseason since he was traded to the Dodgers in 2020. In particular, Betts had 16 RBI in the 2024 postseason. Max Muncy has collected 37 RBI in the playoffs. In the 2020 postseason, Muncy collected 14 RBI. Will Smith has collected 37 RBI for the Dodgers in the postseason as well. Corey Seager was named the 2020 World Series MVP. Back then, he had 20 RBI in the playoffs. In his career with the Dodgers, he collected 36 RBI in the playoffs.

Finally, let’s take a look at who runs a lot. Davey Lopes spent 10 seasons with the Dodgers. In the postseason, he had 19 steals in the Dodgers uniform. Moreover, Mookie Betts has stolen 14 bases for the Dodgers in the postseason. Cody Bellinger stole 14 bases while he was playing for the Dodgers in the postseason.

Looking at the Dodgers’ position players’ contributions in the postseason, Justin Turner is certainly an important one when he was in the Dodgers uniform. However, as we can see, Kike Hernandez already surpassed Justin Turner to become the franchise leader in games played in the postseason. At the same time, Max Muncy is now the franchise leader in home runs in the playoffs. Well, we still don’t know if the Dodgers will re-sign Kike Hernandez. Nonetheless, we might still see other players such as Mookie Betts, Will Smith or Shohei Ohtani contribute to the team in the postseason. Of course, they will have to clinch a spot first.
