2091?

Normally, the Topps Archives Baseball is a set to bring back to the past. There are several old designs and retired players in the set. I always buy several packs of Topps Archives each year and, sometimes, I get some autographed cards. This year, I bought several hobby packs of the 2021 Topps Archives. And, very interestingly, some cards are taking a trip in the future. In the base set, you can find some 2091 Topps cards. Yes, seventy years from now. And, that really makes me wonder whether there will be dramatic changes in the MLB seventy years later. The automated strike zone has been tested in the minor league games. After seventy years, the Automated Ball/Strike system will probably function well and we shall see this system be implemented in every ballpark. Additionally, MLB NFT baseball cards have been released and in the future, we will probably see there will be more series of NFT collections in the future. Perhaps, Topps Archives or other series will be available on NFT. However, Fanatics already inked a deal with MLB, NBA and NFL. Let’s see whether Topps will regain the licensing right in the future. Well, we didn’t see MLB London games in 2021 and it will be interesting to see when MLB London games will return. Covid-19 has changed our life and impacted baseball games. However, we have to believe that things will get better and there will be baseball games in different countries. So far, MLB teams are only based in the United States and Canada. Moreover, regular season games used to be played in Mexico, Japan, Australia and the United Kingdom. Space travel is already possible and with technology development, it will probably be easier for us to travel around the world and will be easier for MLB teams to travel as well. Hence, it will be really fun to watch MLB regular season games in Asia, Latin America and Europe in 2091. Or perhaps, there will be a MLB team in the United Kingdom or in Mexico. Finally, Shohei Ohtani won the 2021 AL MVP award. It could be the beginning of the trend of two-way players. More talented players are willing to pitch and hit in the majors and MLB teams are more open to select two-way players in the draft. In 2091, we will see another two-player win the MVP award. Meanwhile, universal DH was implemented in 2020 and it’s very likely to see the universal DH in the future again very soon. 70 years are not a short period of time. The only constant in life is change. There will be a lot of changes in the future. It’s not easy to imagine what will happen 70 years from now. But, several 2091 Topps baseball cards in the 2021 Topps Archives are very interesting and creative. Well, there shall be a lot of changes in baseball and baseball cards will not be exactly the same in the future. Nonetheless, a key thing has been very important. MLB and MLBPA still don’t have a new Collective Bargaining Agreement. It will be extremely interesting to see whether the new CBA will go smoothly.
