Solo shots

On August 4, the Los Angeles Angels crushed 7 solo home runs in a game against the Oakland Athletics. Unfortunately, the Angeles didn’t win the game. However, after watching the game, I thought about solo home runs. By far this season, which teams do hit more solo shots?

By far, 7 teams each blasted at least 100 solo home runs already. The Atlanta Braves now lead the NL with 214 home runs. More than half of those home runs are solo shots. Meanwhile, when it comes to home runs, we can’t ignore the Bronx Bombers. The New York Yankees already crushed 221 home runs so far this season. Among those 221 homers, 122 home runs are solo shots.

In the meantime, the Los Angeles Dodgers are very close to winning 100 games in a single season again. This season, the Dodgers already blasted 190 home runs thus far. Among those 190 HRs, 116 homers are solo shots.

In addition, two teams in Texas each blasted 100+ solo home runs thus far. The Rangers now have 168 long balls and 107 of them are solo shots. At the same time, the Astros went deep 183 times so far and 103 of them are solo HRs.

Furthermore, the Phillies batters blast 106 solo home runs. Well, how about the Angels? By far this season, the Angels crushed 96 solo homers.

We have seen that the Braves and the Yankees each smashed at least 120 solo home runs. Among the MLB players, who has more solo shots?

Well, the answer is not surprising. Aaron Judge already crushed 35 solo shots. He now leads the majors with 55 home runs. He truly has a fantastic season. So far, Judge slashes .307/.410/.679.

Last season, Mookie Betts batted .264/.367/.487 with 23 home runs and 58 RBI over 122 games. Well, those numbers are ok. However, you always expect to see Mookie Betts do more. This season, he shows how good he is again. Mookie Betts now slashes .278/.350/.560 with 33 home runs and 74 RBI. Most of those home runs are solo shots. Moreover, Kyle Schwarber now leads the NL with 37 home runs. Among those 37 home runs, 23 of them are solo shots. Furthermore, Corey Seager has 22 solo home runs thus far. Seager signed a 10-year deal with the Rangers last December. Seager now hits .248/.324/.455 with 29 home runs and 74 RBI in his first season with the Rangers. At the same time, Yordan Alvarez has 22 solo shots as well. Finally, Jose Altuve, Rhys Hoskins, Austin Riley, Mike Trout and Christian Walker each crushed 20 solo home runs thus far. The Angels scored 7 runs by crushing 7 solo shots, but that wasn’t enough for the team to secure a win against the A’s on August 4. However, watching a lot of home runs in a game isn’t that bad. A solo home run creates a run. Sometimes, one run makes a huge difference, in particular, in the postseason. But, it’s worth watching whether Aaron Judge will keep crushing baseballs. Judge now has 35 solo home runs. By far this season, there are 13 players (including Aaron Judge) who already blasted 30+ home runs.
