2021 Topps Update blaster

In mid-April, I went to a card show which was organized by a card shop owner that I’ve met for around 5 years. He had been thinking about organizing an event for a while. Eventually, he made it and the event was successful. In the show, I passed by a stand and saw a blaster box of the 2021 Topps Update series.

The blaster box drew my attention because the price was very attractive. After seeing the product, I thought for a few minutes and decided to buy it. Well, there are some reasons why this product was cheap. As we can see, the box looked ugly. For many collectors, they don’t like to see a damaged box because a damaged box might result in some damages on the cards.

I opened the box and thankfully, each pack looked fine. And, let’s see what I got.

Notable on base cards: Jose Quintana, C.J. Cron, Albert Pujols, Merrill Kelly, Andrew Benintendi, Lance Lynn, Jed Lowrie, Amed Rosario, Adam Ottavino

Back in late 2021, I went to several card shops and bought some packs of the 2021 Topps Update Series. At that time, I was thinking about getting a Jarred Kelenic rookie card. Nonetheless, I didn’t get any Kelenic rookie cards. But, this time, after opening some packs, I found a Jarred Kelenic rookie card. Moreover, I got a Jarred Kelenic Topps 1992 Redux Chrome card as well. Thus, I got 2 Kelenic rookie cards.
For me, it was pretty fun to buy a blaster box of the 2021 Topps Update Series. Of course, the price is the main reason for me to buy it. My expectation to open this blaster box was modest. In the end, I didn’t get any autographs. But, after a couple of years, I did find Jarred Kelenic rookie cards from the 2021 Topps Update Series. In the first 2 seasons of his career, Kelenic had a batting average below .200. He was a top prospect, but his first 2 seasons in the big leagues didn’t go well. In the 2023 season, it seems that he has a breakout season. Kelenic now has an OPS over .800.
