World Series preview

After a long season, the World Series matchup is finally confirmed. The Texas Rangers defeated the Rays in the AL Wild Card Series and swept the Orioles, which won 101 games in 2023, in the ALDS. In the ALCS, the Rangers beat the Astros. The Rangers clinched the first AL pennant since 2011. Meanwhile, in the NL, the Diamondbacks beat the Brewers in the Wild Card Series. In the NLDS, they swept the Dodgers and, in the NLCS, they defeated the Phillies. The Rangers and the D-backs have been fighting hard through the year, and now, it’s the last mile to win the World Series title. Before the World Series starts, let’s see what will be worth watching during the Fall Classic.

Firstly, let’s take a look at the offense.

Furthermore, Evan Carter has an OPS over .900 and Mitch Garver's OPS is .897 this postseason.

Meanwhile, the D-backs batters smashed 18 home runs and their OPS is .741. Moreover, Alek Thomas has 4 homers thus far and his OPS is .865. Furthermore, Gabriel Moreno, Corbin Carroll and Geraldo Perdomo each have an OPS over .800 so far this postseason.

Secondly, let’s look at pitching performance.

The Rangers pitching staff have a 3.67 ERA and a 1.27 WHIP over 108 innings so far. Those numbers aren’t outstanding. However, Nathan Eovaldi and Jordan Montgomery have been fantastic on the mound so far in the postseason. Eovaldi made 4 starts, posting a 2.42 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP through 26 innings. Moreover, Montgomery owns a 2.16 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP over 25 innings.

Meanwhile, the D-backs pitchers own a 3.23 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP across 106 innings. In the rotation, Brandon Pfaadt and Merrill Kelly each tossed more than 15 innings and now have an ERA below 3. Additionally, Kevin Ginkel and Paul Sewald are two reliable pitchers in the bullpen. They haven’t given up any runs thus far in the postseason.

Very soon, the Fall Classic will start, and it will be the first time that the Rangers play the World Series at Globe Life Field. It’s certain that the Rangers would like to win the first World Series title in franchise history. In the meantime, the D-backs just won the second NL pennant and they are looking to win the second World Series Champions. In the 2023 Fall Classic, who will be the hero? Will players such as Adolis Garcia, Corey Seager and Ketel Marte stay hot in the World Series? On the mound, each team has 2 starters who have been pitching very well this postseason. However, 3-time Cy Young award winner Max Scherzer has an ERA over 9 so far this postseason. At the same time, Zac Gallen owns an ERA over 5 this postseason. Are these 2 pitchers going to make an impact in the Fall Classic?
