Good results?

A batted ball with an exit velocity of 95 mph or higher is a hard-hit ball. Hard-hit balls usually produce good outcomes. This season, some teams are leading in hard-hit rate. However, do all hard-hit balls produce good outcomes? Well, let’s take a look at those teams with a high hard-hit rate.

The Yankees have a hard-hit rate over 44%. The Bronx bombers already blasted 98 home runs, leading the majors. At the same time, their OPS of .765 is the highest among 30 MLB teams. They are definitely hitting the ball hard. In addition, the Blue Jays currently have a .754 OPS, third highest among 30 MLB teams. Moreover, they are hitting .257, which ranks second among 30 MLB teams. By far this season, their hard-hit rate is over 44% and the team already crushed 75 home runs. The 2021 World Series Champions are now second in the NL East. However, this month, the Braves are definitely one of the hottest teams in the majors. They already won 13 consecutive games, which is the longest streak in the majors this season. The Braves have an OPS of .915 in June. By far, the Guardians’ hard-hit rate is 34.4%. Their batting average is .250, but they only crushed 46 home runs, third fewest among 30 teams. In the meantime, the Detroit Tigers’ OPS is below .600, lowest among 30 MLB teams. Furthermore, they only have 31 home runs, lowest among 30 teams as well. Looking at their hard-hit rate of 34.6%, it might not be a surprise. Moreover, the Tigers’ batting average is only .221, fourth lowest among 30 teams. Moreover, the Cardinals’ hard-hit rate is 35%. The Cardinals’ OPS is .720 and their batting average is .254. Finally, the Padres and the Rockies each have a hard-hit rate of 35.3%. So far, the Padres only have 49 home runs, fifth fewest in the majors. Furthermore, the Oakland Athletics are now only hitting .211, lowest among 30 MLB teams. The A’s hard-hit rate is 35.6%. By far, they only have 45 home runs, second lowest among 30 MLB teams. The Yankees are leading in home runs in the majors and the Braves are now leading the NL in home runs. They are in the top 3 of the hard-hit rate chart. At the same time, the Dodgers and the Blue Jays are in the top 5 in OPS and when we look at the hard-hit rate, we know that we shouldn’t be surprised to see the result. At the same time, the Tigers’ hard-hit rate is the second lowest among 30 MLB teams and looking at the stats, they really have a lot to do to improve their offense. However, the Guardians have a hard-hit rate under 35%, but their OPS is higher than .700. Nonetheless, the Orioles’ hard-hit rate is 40%, but their OPS is below .700. That’s something worth monitoring for the rest of the season.
