Someone that the Yankees hate?

This October, I watched several games and of course, some highlights. A Hall of Famer mentioned a player’s great performance in the postseason. In particular, that player has hit outstandingly against the Yankees.

After watching what he said, I was just wondering which players had hit well against the Yankees over the last several seasons. To solve my doubts, I decided to check on the statcast website.

James Loney made his MLB debut in 2006 and his last game was in 2016. He finished his career with 1425 hits and a batting average of .284. From 2010 to 2016, he hit .340 against the Yankees. In particular, in 2013 and 2014, he finished each season with an OPS over .900 against the Yankees.

At the same time, Jose Ramirez is certainly one of the most consistent hitters in the majors. So far in his career, his batting average is .279. Jose Ramirez first met the Yankees in 2014. His batting average is over .330 against the Yankees. And, what’s more interesting, his OPS is over .900 against the Yankees.

In addition, Francisco Lindor made his MLB debut in 2015. He now has a batting average over .300 against the Yankees. Also, his OPS is over .900 against the Yankees.

Moreover, let’s take a look at 2 hitters from the Blue Jays. Bichette made his MLB debut in 2019. His batting average is over .300 against the Yankees thus far in his career. In particular, Bichette crushed 8 home runs against the Yankees in 2021. Meanwhile, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. made his MLB debut in 2019 as well. He has a batting average over .300 against the Yankees so far in his career. In 2020, 2024 and 2025, he finished each season with an OPS over 1.000 against the Yankees.

Finally, Kevin Youkilis played in the majors from 2004 to 2013. In those 10 seasons, he had a batting average over .280. In his career, he hit .300/.432/.483 with 13 home runs and 66 RBI against the Yankees. His OPS was over .900 against the Yankees. From 2008 to 2012, his batting average against the Yankees was .300.

Looking at the stats from 2008 to 2025, it could be interesting to see James Loney actually hit very well against the Yankees. He played for the Rays from 2013 to 2015 and he did some damage against the Yankees. Additionally, Kevin Youkilis spent 9 seasons with the Red Sox and he caused a lot of problems for the Yankees. And now, Bo Bichette and Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who both play for the Blue Jays, have been nightmares for the Yankees pitching staff. Bichette and Guerrero Jr. have hit outstandingly against the Yankees. In the short term, Vladimir Guerrero Jr. will still play for the Blue Jays for at least several seasons and will face the Yankees several times during the regular season. The Yankees pitchers and coaching staff must identify some ways to limit the damages. Otherwise, the troubles will continue and it might somehow become a huge problem.
