World Series preview

The 2025 Fall Classic will begin very soon. The Dodgers just swept the Brewers, who owned the best record in the 2025 season, in the NLCS. In the meantime, the Blue Jays defeated the Mariners after playing 7 games in ALCS. Hence, this October, we are going to see the Dodgers face the Blue Jays in the World Series.

Before the World Series begins, let’s quickly look back at how they have done in the postseason.

Firstly, let’s look at the Dodgers, who would like to win 2 consecutive titles. So far, the Dodgers played 10 games in the 2025 postseason. They now hit .256/.340/.430 with 13 home runs and 43 RBI. Their OPS is .770. It’s not too bad. However, you can’t say it’s really good.

In the meantime, let’s look at the Dodgers’ pitching performance. In 10 games, their pitchers threw 92 innings, posting a 2.45 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP. They struck out 104 batters. Opponents’ batting average against the Dodgers pitcher is only .173. The Dodgers pitching staff look quite solid. Taking a closer look, the Dodgers starters threw 64.1 innings, posting a 1.40 ERA and a 0.75 WHIP. The Dodgers starters have a .132 BAA with 81 strikeouts. Nonetheless, the Dodgers’ bullpen owns a 4.88 ERA and a 1.66 WHIP over 27.2 innings.

In addition, let’s look at the American League pennant winner, the Blue Jays. The team has played 11 games this postseason, hitting .296/.355/.523 with 20 home runs and 66 RBI. They own an OPS over .800, which has shown the team’s good offense.

Finally, looking at the Blue Jays pitching performance, the Blue Jays pitchers threw 97 innings, posting a 4.36 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. Opponents hit .233 against the Blue Jays pitching staff. Taking a closer look, the Blue Jays starters have tossed 51.1 innings and now have a 3.33 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP. At the same time, the Blue Jays bullpen has a 5.52 ERA and a 1.49 WHIP over 45.2 innings.

Well, it's the postseason. You never know what will happen. However, when we look at the 2 teams’ performances thus far in the 2025 playoffs. The Dodgers have hit consistently. The Dodgers starters have done an outstanding job. Nonetheless, the bullpen could be an X factor and this will be quite important. In particular, if they cannot take a lead earlier in a game or they score enough runs early. In the late innings, can their relief pitchers handle the high-leverage situation? Additionally, the Blue Jays bullpen hasn’t been so good, either. Nevertheless, a key thing worth watching is their offense. The Blue Jays hitters have done a great job this postseason. They now have an OPS over .800 in the postseason. Hence, there are so many key things worth watching this postseason. A team’s rotation has been great in the postseason and the other team’s offense is pretty good in the postseason. When the teams meet in the World Series, it’s going to be really fun to watch the Fall Classic.
