A couple of days ago, we reviewed the hitting performances between left-handed hitters and right-handed hitters at Yankee stadium over the last several seasons. After the post was published, I was just thinking about another thing.
The Yankee Stadium (New) was opened in April 2009. Since the opening of this ballpark, which hitters have collected a lot of hits at this ballpark? To solve my doubts, I decided to check on the statcast website.
Brett Gardner made his MLB debut in 2008 and spent 14 seasons in the majors. He spent all those 14 seasons with the Yankees and had 1470 hits. Among those 1470 hits, 704 of them were hit at Yankee Stadium (New). At this moment, he’s still the only player who has 700+ hits at this ballpark.
All Rise! Aaron Judge is certainly the most important hitter in the Yankees lineup these years. He now has 1200+ hits in his career. Among those hits, 630 are hit at Yankee Stadium. Meanwhile, no one would ignore his power. Judge has crushed 199 home runs at this ballpark.
Well, we know what happened to Robinson Cano’s career and he ruined his possible trajectory to the Hall of Fame. He had 2639 hits in his career and 491 of those hits were hit at Yankee Stadium (New).
In addition, Derek Jeter was inducted to the Cooperstown in 2020. He made his MLB debut in 1995 and played his last game in 2014. Jeter had 3465 hits in his great career. From 2009 to 2014, he collected 452 hits at Yankee Stadium.
Moreover, Gleyber Torres made his MLB debut in 2018. He played for the Yankees from 2018 to 2024. He now has 1000+ hits in his career. At Yankee Stadium, he has collected 400+ hits. Furthermore, Mark Teixeira had 400+ hits at this ballpark as well. He crushed 409 home runs in his career and among those home runs, 113 were smashed at Yankee Stadium.
Finally, DJ LeMahieu, Alex Rodriguez and Didi Gregorius each had 300+ hits at Yankee Stadium. LeMahieu was released last season and he had 1772 hits in his career. A-Rod had 3000+ hits in his career and he blasted 72 home runs at Yankee Stadium (New). Didi Gregorius played in the majors from 2012 to 2022. Furthermore, Giancarlo Stanton has played 17 seasons in the majors. He has collected 1600+ hits and blasted 400+ home runs. At Yankee Stadium, he has 330 hits and 102 home runs thus far in his career.
Looking at the players who are on the leaderboard of hits at Yankee Stadium, interestingly, Brett Gardner is now the only one with 700+ hits at this ballpark. Nonetheless, as we can see, Aaron Judge is in second place. If Judge stays healthy, there will be no doubt that he’ll become the next hitter to reach 700 hits at Yankee Stadium. However, that might be something worth concerning since he has been placed on the IL many times so far in his career and he already missed some playing time this season. But let’s see when Judge will reach 700 hits at Yankee stadium.
