Aaron Judge made it into the big leagues on August 13, 2016. He played 27 games in 2016, hitting .179/.263/.345 with 4 home runs and 10 RBI. It wasn’t a great start. However, since 2017, Judge has been one of the most dangerous hitters in the majors. He has played in the majors for 10 seasons. In these 10 seasons, he has become a 3-time MVP award winner, 7-time All-Star and 5-time Silver Slugger winner. Moreover, he just won the batting title last season.
While watching Judge’s 10 years in the majors, I’m just wondering how good he has been. To solve my doubts, I decided to check on the great Fangraphs website.
So far in his career, Judge has smashed 368 home runs, leading the majors over the last 10 seasons. There are 6 times that he hit more than 30 home runs in a single season. Kyle Schwarber made his MLB debut in 2015. From 2016 to 2025, he smashed 324 home runs. There are 7 times that he blasted at least 30 home runs in a single season. Moreover, Eugenio Suarez crushed 308 home runs from 2016 to 2025. There are 6 times that he had at least 30 home runs in a single season. Also, Manny Machado hit 300+ home runs during the same period.
Secondly, let’s look at the RBI. Nolan Arenado collected 941 RBI from 2016 to 2025. Over the last 10 seasons, there are 6 times that he collected more than 100 RBI in a single season. At the same time, Manny Machado had 929 RBI. Over the last 10 years, there are 4 times that he had more than 100 RBI in a single season. Additionally, Jose Ramirez has consistently collected RBI over the last 10 seasons. He had 900+ RBI from 2016 to 2025 as well. Aaron Judge didn’t reach 900 RBI over the last 10 seasons. However, he had 830 RBI. Moreover, Freddie Freeman collected 898 RBI and Eugenio Suarez had 878 RBI during the same period.
In addition, let’s look at OPS. Among qualified hitters, Aaron Judge is the only player who has an OPS over 1.000. Also, from 2016 to 2025, Mike Trout owned an OPS of .991. Yordan Alvarez made his MLB debut in 2019 and now has an OPS over .900. Furthermore, Shohei Ohtani, Juan Soto and Ronald Acuna Jr. all made their MLB debuts in 2018. By far, they each have an OPS over .900. Additionally, Freddie Freeman and Bryce Harper each owned an OPS over .900 from 2016 to 2025.
Finally, let’s take a look at advanced stats. Aaron Judge’s wRC+ is 178, which is the highest among qualified hitters. Mike Trout’s wRC+ was 165. Alvarez has played 7 seasons in the majors and his wRC+ is 163. Additionally, Juan Soto and Shohei Ohtani each now have a wRC+ over 150.
Looking back at the last 10 seasons, without a doubt, Aaron Judge is certainly an elite hitter. He crushed a lot of home runs and he also collected RBI. Furthermore, when we look at advanced stats, he’s still a leader. Hence, over the last 10 years, we surely witnessed a great hitter in pinstripes and he has played an extremely important role for the Yankees. In April, Judge will turn 34 and we can keep watching if he will continue crushing baseballs.
