A couple of days ago, we saw that several hitters might reach career milestones in the 2026 season. This time, let’s shift our focus on the mound. Let’s see which pitchers will reach key career milestones soon.
Firstly, let’s look at wins. Jacob deGrom has 96 wins so far in his career. Well, if he’s healthy, he should have earned 100 wins much earlier. He got 12 wins in 2025 and it won’t be a huge problem for him to reach 100 wins if he’s healthy. Eduardo Rodriguez has 94 wins thus far in his career. In 2025, he got 9 wins. However, he finished the season with an ERA over 5. We should keep watching if he can pitch consistently in 2026. Nevertheless, for Carlos Rodon, the case has been different. Rodon got 16 wins in 2024 and last season, he earned 18 wins. Rodon has 93 career wins. If he replicates his performances over the last 2 seasons, we shall see him reach 100 wins this year. And Max Fried got 19 wins in his first season in pinstripes. Fried has 92 wins thus far in his career. The Yankees fans will be happy to see him reach 100 wins in 2026.
Meanwhile, Martin Perez has 91 wins and Marcus Stroman has 90 wins. Nonetheless, we have to keep watching if they will pitch in the majors this year. Robbie Ray has 88 wins and Luis Castillo has 84 wins. It might be challenging to see them reach 100 wins in 2026. In particular, Luis Castillo has never reached 16 wins in a single season thus far in his career.
In addition, Kenley Jansen has 476 saves so far in his career and Aroldis Chapman has 367 saves. Jansen collected 29 saves in 2025. He will pitch for the Tigers in 2026. If he can do the same as he did in 2025, he shall reach 500 saves. Aroldis Chapman got 32 saves in 2025. It will be worthwhile to see if he can collect 33 saves to reach 400 saves in 2026.
Finally, let’s look at strikeouts. Kevin Gausman has 1954 strikeouts and Sonny Gray has 1925 strikeouts. Gausman struck out 189 batters last season and Sonny Gray threw 201 strikeouts in 2025. It shouldn’t be difficult for them to reach 2000 strikeouts. At the same time, Aaron Nola has 1876 strikeouts, Patrick Corbin has 1860 strikeouts and Jacob deGrom has thrown 1851 strikeouts. Jacob deGrom threw 185 strikeouts in 2025. He should be able to reach 2000 career strikeouts in 2026 if can replicate his performance. Nola missed some playing time in 2025 and he threw 97 strikeouts last season. Patrick Corbin threw 131 strikeouts in 2025. He’s now a free agent. Additionally, Max Scherzer has 3489 strikeouts and Justin Verlander has 3553 strikeouts. Max Scherzer needs 21 strikeouts to surpass Walter Johnson to become the pitcher with 10th most strikeouts and Justin Verlander needs 22 strikeouts to surpass Don Sutton to become the pitcher with the 7th most strikeouts.
The 2026 season could be an important season for Jacob deGrom, if everything goes well and he stays healthy, he should reach 100 wins and 2000 strikeouts in his career. In the meantime, we can watch if Kenley Jansen will become the 3rd pitcher with 500 saves. Justin Verlander and Max Scherzer are now still free agents. Let’s see if they will agree to a deal soon and keep throwing strikeouts in 2026.
