A few days ago, I read a post on X. It indicated several pitchers’ average fastball velocity. Very interestingly, some pitchers’ average velocity of fastballs is over 100 mph. After reading the post, I was just thinking about one thing.
So far this season, which pitchers have thrown a lot of pitches that touch triple digits? To solve my doubt, I decided to check on the statcast website.
Jacob Misiorowski made his MLB debut in 2025. Last season, he owned a 4.36 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP over 66 innings. So far this season, he already made 16 starts, posting a 1.45 ERA and a 0.77 WHIP. He’s now leading the majors with 146 strikeouts. He heavily relies on his four-seam fastball and the average velocity of his four-seamers is over 100 mph. By far this season, he already threw 500+ pitches that touched triple digits.
At the same time, Edgardo Henriquez is a relief pitcher from the Dodgers. It’s his third season in the majors. He throws his sinker and four-seamer really hard with an average velocity over 100 mph. Yes, both sinker and four-seam fastballs. So far this season, Henriquez already threw 200+ pitches that reached 100 mph or higher.
In addition, Mason Miller, who’s the closer for the Padres, throws really hard. He has made 32 relief appearances thus far in 2026, posting a 0.79 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP over 34 innings. He uses his four-seamer more than 40% of the time in 2026 and the average velocity of his four-seamer is over 101 mph. By far this season, he already threw 200+ four-seamers that touched triple digits.
Moreover, Adrian Morejon is pitching for the Padres as well. He uses his sinker more than 45% of the time in 2026 and he throws four-seam fastballs. The average pitch velocity of his four-seamers and sinkers is over 99 mph. So far this season, he already threw 90+ pitches that reached at least 100 mph.
Finally, Tyron Guerrero has made 14 relief appearances for the Red Sox in 2026. He uses his sinker more than 70% of the time. So far this season, he already threw 80+ sinkers that reached 100 mph or higher. Meanwhile, Bubba Chandler has pitched 79.1 innings this season. By far, he threw 80+ pitches that were at least 100 mph.
So far this season, there are 3 pitchers that throw pitches with 100+ mph more than 100 times. In particular, Jacob Misiorowski already threw 500+ pitches that touched triple digits. He certainly throws really hard. Well, from 2008 to 2025, there were only 4 times that a pitcher threw more than 500 pitches that reached 100 mph or higher in a single season. Aroldis Chapman did it twice. The first time was in 2015 and the other time was in 2016. Furthermore, Jordan Hicks threw 673 pitches that touched triple digits in 2018. The most recent time was in 2024. Mason Miller threw 510 pitches that touched triple digits. In the 2026 season, we can keep watching if there will be multiple pitchers to throw more than 500 pitches that reach 100 mph.
