Hard Hit

Hard-hit rate is a product of statcast. Statcast defines a “hard-hit ball” as one hit with an exit velocity of 95 mph or higher. Hard-hit balls usually generate good outcomes.

More Sliders?

It’s just random. I was wondering which pitchers use sliders more often during the game this season. At the same time, I was also thinking whether their sliders are effective. So I went to the statcast website and did a quick search.

Outs at home

It was just a few days ago. I watched a game between the Rays and the Blue Jays. A Rays’ player was tagged out at home, a great play. Then, I was wondering how many outs at home plate every year. Which team is unfortunately to have most outs at home?

Hot in September?

Joc Pederson

The August 31 trade deadline is coming soon. That means the 2020 regular season is getting closer to the end. With only one month to go, MLB teams have to fight hard for the playoff berths. This September is not like previous Septembers, we are not going to see a lot of call-ups. However, we can still see players who heat up in September to make impacts to their teams and help their teams to clinch the playoff berths.

Win-Win trade?

Topps chrome is the highlight of topps series 1 and topps series 2. The set has 200 cards and provides shining rookies and stars. There are also many refractor cards and autographs to chase. I usually buy some packs every year and try to find some rookie cards and refractor cards. This year, I got a Brusdar Graterol rookie card. At the beginning, I was wondering if his number was correct. He actually wears No. 48 in the Dodgers. He should have pitched for the Red Sox if the 3-team trade had been completed.

Below 1.00

It’s been one month since the 2020 season began. Each team has played approximately 30 games. A starter should have already made 4 to 6 starts thus far. In this shortened season, it gives us something interesting to watch. Charlie Blackmon’s batting average is still above .400. On the mound, Trevor Bauer’s ERA is still below 1.00.

First round in 20 years

Tyler Kolek, 2nd overall pick in 2014

There were only 5 rounds in the 2020 Major League Baseball draft. In total, 160 players were selected and they all agreed to contracts. The Detroit Tigers that had the worst record in the 2019 season used the first overall pick to select Spencer Torkelson, an infielder from Arizona State University.

Location, Location, Location

Kenley Jansen is the Dodgers’ all-time saves leader. He earned his 162 saves in the 2016 season to pass former NL Cy Young winner Eric Gagne’s franchise record 161 saves. He already collected more than 300 saves in his career. From 2014 to 2019, he collected 239 saves, leading in the MLB. After Mariano Rivera retired, Jansen is no doubt one of the most dominant closers.
